Black Sheep Lacquer is one of the few Canadian nail polish and indie nail polish brands that is Leaping Bunny Certified. This means none of my nail polish is tested on animals, nor do any of my suppliers test on animals. All of my products are vegan, I do not use any animal products in any of my nail polishes. My nail polish is big 5 free.
Black Sheep Lacquer was officially born in January of 2013. I’ve always played with nail polish, mixing up commercial brands and making my own custom colours. One day while pursuing my favourite soap store I came across suspension base. After some happy dancing and playing with many different colours and textures, I made the jump into Etsy and haven’t looked back since. I get excited by the smell of nail polish- it’s one of my favourite things. Walking into my workspsace fills me with so much happiness! I love making pretty, original nailpolish with a badass flair.
I’ve learned a lot about nail polish in the past year, and only use tried and true micas and solvent resistant glitters.
I’m a big music nerd with a penchant for heavy metal and loud rock music. I get so much inspiration musically, I listen to a song and try to translate how it makes me feel into colours. My favourite example is Bela Lugosi’s Dead. Bauhaus evokes dark but beautiful feelings, and I translated that into a dark black base with multiple red glitters. I wear it all the time, it’s such a gorgeous nail polish colour.
I ship my Canadian indie nail polish from two shipping centres. Orders to Canada will ship from my home in Abbotsford, BC. I ship American orders from Sumas, Wa. Canadian orders ship same or next day, American orders are done 2-3 times a week depending on volume. So either way you will never have to worry about nail polish being held up in customs or being rejected.
All of my nail polishes are made one at a time, usually at the time of order and are free of Toulene, Formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalate.
